Dear Brethren,
Follow Me, and I will make you Fishers of Men (Matthew 4:19)
I hope you have not forgotten our Church theme for this year 2013. Two months in this new year are almost gone. Have you been a Fisher of Men? Have you shared the Gospel to anyone or given a Gospel tract to anyone in this year? We know the answer and God knows the answer too for each one of us. May the Lord have mercy on us that we will not waste this year away with not a word spoken for our Saviour Jesus Christ.
There will be opportunities in the month of March to be Fishers of Men for our Lord Jesus Christ. He can use us and make us to be one. Let us humbly submit to Him and follow His way in our lives. Church evangelism will be held on 2 March 2013 Saturday. On 9 March 2013 Saturday night, there will be a Chinese Gospel meeting. And finally on 24 March 2013 Sunday, it is our Gospel worship service. Surely these are opportunities that God has given to us that we must not ignore and waste them away. Pray for a burden for souls. Be serious to take heed to God’s Word that tells us souls are perishing …
“And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.” Luke 16:23-24.
Excuses We Give …
We like to excuse ourselves with these reasons for not evangelizing for the Lord :
I am a young Christian and do not know the Bible well – if unbeliever asks me any question, I don’t know how to answer
I am scared of rejection – my friends will not believe in Jesus and will not come to Church
I don’t know how to share the Gospel – no one taught me how to do it
I am busy and have no time now – I will evangelise another time.
We must search our hearts before the Lord and ask ourselves honestly if these reasons can stand before God. Will God excuse us if we tell Him these are the reasons why I do not share the Gospel to anyone? Dearly beloved, we should face the reality that it is our sin, our cold heart, our lack of love for souls, that we are not doing anything for the Lord. We need to repent today and pray to God for mercy to give us a love and burden for souls. If we sincerely repent and pray to God for a love and burden for souls, I am very sure the Lord will answer our prayers and mold us to be Fishers of Men.
May this poem called “A friend” written by DJ Higgins challenge our hearts to witness for the Lord.
My friend, I stand in judgment now
And feel that you’re to blame somehow
While on this earth I walked with you day by day
And never did you point the way
You knew the Lord in truth and glory
But never did you tell the story
My knowledge then was very dim
You could have led me safe to Him
Though we lived together here on earth
You never told me of your second birth
And now I stand this day condemned
Because you failed to mention Him
You taught me many things, that’s true
I called you friend and trusted you
But now I learned, now it’s too late
You could have kept me from this fate
We walked by day and talked by night
And yet you showed me not the light
You let me live, love and die
And all the while you knew I’d never live on high
Yes, I called you friend in life
And trusted you in joy and strife
Yet in coming to this end
I see you really weren’t my friend
